In Bengaluru, an incident has been documented involving three individuals concerning the discovery of Rs 2 crore in cash during the inspection of a vehicle within the boundaries of the Cottonpete Police Station. The matter has been forwarded to the Income Tax Department. The IT department has accelerated the scrutiny into the seizure of the funds.
An official complaint was lodged against Venkatesh Prasad, Gangadhar, accused of transporting the money, and Lokesh Ambekal, the state BJP secretary, following a report by Election Officer Ravi Asoothi after a police officer uncovered Rs 2 crore in a vehicle during a check at Cottonpete Police Station on Saturday. Upon receiving the tip-off, IT officials impounded the funds and dispatched notifications to the two suspects for further examination.
On March 27, an amount of Rs 5 crore was withdrawn from the Kodandarampur Canara Bank, whereof Rs 2 crore was designated for dissemination among the grassroots operatives of the Mysore-Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituencies, as per the preliminary inquiry affirmed by the accused.
In the aforementioned case, a correspondence was discovered, outlining the transfer of funds through Venkatesh for allocation among the grassroots operatives of the aforementioned Lok Sabha constituencies, as indicated by the election authorities in the complaint.
