Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated on Monday that his administration harbors no opposition toward the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) delving into the Hubballi homicide matter. Nonetheless, he appended that his administration will approach the matter in their distinctive method.
The comments arose following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s call for a CBI investigation into the killing of a Congress Councillor’s daughter in Karnataka, who was fatally stabbed on the premises of BVB College the preceding week. The BJP has accused the police of attempting to “deviate” from the case. “Let them execute whatever they wish to, we harbor no objection to their intentions. The Karnataka government will manage this situation in its particular manner, there is no room for doubt,” DK Shivakumar articulated to ANI.
Niranjan Hiremath, the father of the deceased girl in Hubballi, has urged for a CBI examination into the occurrence. He further urged that the police commissioner overseeing the case should be relocated due to purported “negligence”. “I have candidly disclosed the names of 8 individuals. Not a single person has been apprehended yet. I am losing trust now. They are attempting to divert my case. Entrust it to CBI if you are unable to. The commissioner handling this case is a lady, nonetheless, she is not treating a girl’s demise with due gravity. She is acting under some sort of coercion. I am demanding the commissioner to be relocated for neglect in the case. I request that the case be entrusted to CBI,” Hiremath conveyed to ANI on Sunday.
Previously, BJP chief JP Nadda on Sunday also echoed Hiremath’s plea for a CBI inquiry. “This is an appalling incident and we denounce it. CM Siddaramaiah’s and Home Minister G Parameshwara’s remarks on this incident are reprehensible. Their remarks diminish the scrutiny. The citizens of Karnataka will not forgive the existing government for its appeasement politics,” Nadda expressed.
“The state government ought to transfer the case to the CBI if the State Police is incapable of an impartial probe. Hiremath has also advocated for a CBI examination into the occurrence as he possesses less trust in the State police,” he appended. The slaying of Karnataka college scholar Neha Hiremath by her former schoolmate Fayaz has ignited a political dispute, with the BJP labeling it as a ‘love jihad’ instance, whereas the Congress party has repudiated the claim.
Calls for the death penalty for Fayaz, the accused, have incited demonstrations throughout the state. BJP Karnataka President BY Vijayendra told ANI that, on the face of it, it appears to be a love jihad scenario. Hence, instead of delving into the inquiry, the CM is attempting to shield the perpetrators. However, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed the assertions of “love jihad” in the case.
He elucidated that the slaying of Congress corporator’s daughter Neha Hiremath in Hubballi is not a “love jihad” incident as asserted by the BJP. The defendant, Fayaz Khondunaik, who absconded from the scene, was subsequently detained by the police. Neha was a first-year MCA student and Fayaz was her former classmate.
