In a recent volley against Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his statement on ‘wealth redistribution,’ the Congress has intensified its critique. They argue that Modi refrains from acknowledging that over 40% of the nation’s generated wealth between 2012 and 2021 has gravitated towards a mere one percent of the populace. The Congress contends that only a government led by INDIA bloc can usher in significantly more inclusive economic progress.
During a rally in Rajasthan, Modi insinuated that if the Congress were to assume power, wealth would be redistributed to “infiltrators” and families with more offspring. He referred to former PM Manmohan Singh’s statement regarding the minority community’s precedence in national resources.
Prime Minister Modi’s recent remarks targeting the Congress have been met with a sharp response from the party. Congress accuses Modi of resorting to “falsehoods” and “incendiary rhetoric” to divert attention from substantive concerns following what they consider a “disappointing” initial phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
On the matter, Congress’s general secretary Jairam Ramesh declared, “The Prime Minister would never disclose: Over 40% of the nation’s wealth created from 2012 to 2021 has flowed towards merely 1% of the populace.” He highlighted that approximately 64% of the country’s total goods and services tax (GST) revenue is contributed by the impoverished, the lower-middle class, and the middle class.
Ramesh further alleged, “A majority of the public assets and resources auctioned off in the past decade have been claimed by one or two enterprises – economists have argued that the increasing monopolization of the economy has resulted in heightened inflation.” Presently, 21 billionaires collectively possess more wealth than 70 crore Indians, according to Ramesh.
“India is in need of accelerated economic expansion. India requires notably more inclusive economic growth. India is in dire need of significantly more ecologically sustainable progress. Only INDIA has the potential and determination to realize this trio,” Ramesh emphasized.
