In the heart of Jammu, authorities asserted on Tuesday that a foreign extremist known by the moniker “Abu Hamza” from the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba was implicated in the slaying of a civil servant in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. A substantial reward of Rs 10 lakh has been pledged for any leads on his whereabouts. The victim, Mohammad Razaq, aged 40, met his tragic end on Monday within the confines of Kunda Top village, nestled in the Thanamandi region.
Razaq, who diligently served in the governmental sphere within the Social Welfare department, now rests in the bosom of his village, laid to rest on this very Tuesday. The deceased’s sibling, Mohammad Tahir Choudhary, a dedicated soldier within the Territorial Army, narrowly evaded harm’s way during this brazen attack. “Two insurgents associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) forcefully entered the premises of a Territorial Army official within the village,” relayed a spokesperson from the police.
However, Choudhary managed to evade the brunt of the assault unscathed, as per the spokesperson’s account. A formal complaint has been lodged at the Thanamandi police station, the official further disclosed, emphasizing, “A comprehensive inquiry is presently underway to track down each and every perpetrator linked to this heinous act of terrorism.” Substantial evidence has surfaced identifying one of the assailants as a “foreign extremist” under the alias Abu Hamza, the spokesperson elucidated.
In unison, law enforcement and security operatives stationed within the conjoined vicinities of Rajouri-Poonch are mobilizing efforts to dismantle this nefarious network, she affirmed. A commendable bounty of Rs 10 lakh has been publicized for any valuable information leading to the apprehension of the extremist, law enforcement officials confirmed, along with the release of a detailed sketch resembling his appearance.
The 32-year-old extremist, clad in a traditional Pathani ensemble complemented by a tawny shawl and carrying an unmistakable orange satchel, has been active in the precincts of Shadra Sharief and Der ki Gali, deeply enmeshed in a string of terror-related endeavors, police sources disclosed. “Anyone who furnishes substantive intelligence that culminates in the arrest of the suspect will be duly compensated with Rs 10 lakh, and their identity shall remain shrouded in confidentiality,” the spokesperson concluded.
