In New Delhi’s political arena, Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj engaged in a profound 30-minute discourse with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal within the confines of Tihar Jail. He reassured the public, urging them to cast aside any apprehensions regarding his well-being.
Reflecting on the interaction, Bharadwaj disclosed, “During the ‘mulakat jangla’ rendezvous, we conversed telephonically. Our discourse within the ‘mulakat jangla’ spanned half an hour. Kejriwal emphasized that the populace need not fret. He affirmed his resilience, vowing to persist in his battle with the benevolent support of Delhi’s denizens,” the Delhi minister articulated to the press post-summit.
The ‘mulakat jangla’ refers to an iron lattice that partitions the detainee from the visitor within a designated chamber of the prison. This structural feature facilitates communication between the visitor and detainee, albeit seated on opposing sides of the mesh barrier.
Despite his detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection to a money laundering inquiry on March 21, the Delhi Chief Minister has not vacated his post, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staunchly affirming his continued governance from behind bars.
Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP’s national general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak also convened with Kejriwal at Tihar Jail on April 15.
Subsequent to their encounter, Pathak conveyed to the media that Kejriwal will routinely convene with two ministers weekly to assess the progress within their respective portfolios.
Following his apprehension, Kejriwal dispatched directives to his ministers, tasking them with addressing critical matters such as water supply and the availability of pharmaceuticals within governmental healthcare facilities. Additionally, he implored party MLAs to traverse their constituencies, extending aid to their constituents.
