Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari collapsed under the blistering sun while delivering a campaign speech at an electoral gathering in Yavatmal, Maharashtra on Wednesday.
The senior BJP luminary and Union Minister was canvassing in Pusad, falling within the boundaries of the Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency. His security entourage swiftly whisked him away from the podium upon his collapse. However, after a brief interlude, the minister regained composure and re-emerged onto the platform to conclude his oration.
“Experienced discomfort from the scorching temperatures at the Pusad rally, Maharashtra. Yet presently I am in full recovery and en route to Warud for the subsequent campaign,” articulated the 66-year-old statesman in a statement shared on X.
In a previous incident on December 7, 2018, Gadkari lost consciousness during a public function in Maharashtra due to “suffocation” stemming from ceremonial attire, in his own account. He was present at the convocation ceremony of an agricultural university in Ahmednagar district, standing for the rendition of the national anthem when he collapsed on the dais.
