The unfortunate incident unfolded on Friday, casting a somber shadow over the ongoing electoral process in the Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituency, currently in the throes of its second phase. Reportedly, the occurrence transpired circa 9.30 in the morning within the precincts of a governmental educational institution situated in Kudedadar hamlet, nestled within the jurisdiction of the Piparchhedi police station. A spokesperson from the law enforcement authority divulged that the deceased, identified as Head Constable Jiyalal Pawar, succumbed to injuries sustained from a self-inflicted gunshot wound within the confines of a chamber within the school premises. It was noted that Pawar, hailing from the 34th Battalion of the MP Special Armed Force, was part of the reserve contingent and not actively engaged in electoral duties at the time of the incident. Subsequent to receiving notification of the tragic event, a contingent from the local police promptly converged upon the scene, overseeing the transportation of the deceased’s remains for forensic examination. Authorities disclosed the absence of any written testament within the vicinity, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the untimely demise.
