A juvenile, aged 17, was apprehended for purportedly planting a cellular device camera within the lavatory designated for females at a medical institution in Mangaluru, as per authorities on Wednesday.
The occurrence came into awareness on May 6 subsequent to the security overseer of the institution identifying the cellular device upon hearing its ringtone emanating from the lavatory, despite no occupants being present within.
The security overseer, known as Raju, articulated he was traversing the vicinity of the female lavatory situated on the foremost level of the edifice approximately at 3:30 pm on Monday, when he abruptly discerned the sound of a ringtone from within. Upon investigation, he discovered a cellular device camera positioned near the apex segment of the commode.
Raju promptly filed a report at the Mangaluru North police precinct. Following his report, law enforcement initiated an examination and predicated on the data gleaned from the device, a minor was apprehended.
Initial probes divulged that the defendant had visited the institution masquerading as a patient and purportedly stationed the cellular device within the lavatory. He was detained and presented before the adolescent court, as declared by City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
In the antecedent year, a corresponding incident had surfaced wherein three female pupils of medicine allegedly embedded a cellular device camera within the lavatory of their institution situated here.
