Amidst the political terrain, New Delhi became the stage for a heated accusation hurled by the Congress, alleging discriminatory treatment of opposition figures by electoral authorities. The focal point of contention arose when Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress’s prominent figure, encountered a thorough inspection of his aerial transport in Samastipur, Bihar, while counterparts aligned with the BJP-led NDA enjoyed unimpeded mobility.
Kharge, amidst a flurry of campaign engagements, graced the electoral landscape of Samastipur and Muzaffarpur, delivering impassioned addresses to the electorate. Raising the specter of partiality, Rajesh Rathorre, an articulate voice within the Congress’s Bihar enclave, took to the digital realm, disseminating a compelling narrative through a video bulletin on a platform designated as ‘X’.
In this digital exposé, Rathorre, the Congress’s principal spokesperson in Bihar, unveiled footage ostensibly portraying the direct oversight of Kharge’s helicopter inspection by Bihar’s incumbent chief electoral officer. The footage depicted a tableau of officialdom, with law enforcement personnel enveloping the aerial vehicle in scrutiny.
With a fervent appeal for transparency, Rathorre urged the Election Commission (EC) to elucidate the procedural regularity of such aerial inspections concerning Congress dignitaries and to extend equitable treatment to leaders affiliated with the NDA coalition. He underscored the imperative for the EC to publicize comprehensive records of all aerial inspections conducted during the electoral fray.
In the absence of such transparency, Rathorre cautioned against a prevailing narrative of selective enforcement aimed at stifling opposition voices while affording preferential treatment to NDA luminaries. He reiterated the demand for the EC to furnish a comprehensive dossier, inclusive of visual documentation, chronicling the aerial inspections undergone by political figures across the spectrum.
