In New Delhi, subsequent to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and more than a handful of governmental medical centers in the capital city being the recipients of menacing electronic correspondences, the Delhi law enforcement authorities have declared that no discernible traces of concern were unearthed.
“The absence of any notable cause for alarm has been ascertained,” conveyed the law enforcement officials. As per the pronouncement from the Delhi Police, IGI Airport found itself the recipient of a threatening communication via email originating from an anonymous source on Sunday during the afternoon hours. The sender purported the existence of an explosive contrivance concealed within the premises.
Initially, analogous electronic communications were received at two governmental medical facilities, notably the Burari Government Hospital and the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital located in Mangolpuri, as conveyed by DCP North, Manoj Meena.
Promptly upon receiving intelligence pertaining to the menacing emails, the Delhi Police initiated investigative measures. Concurrently, while teams from the Delhi Police and the Fire Services Department commenced combing operations at these locales, an additional five government medical facilities in the capital city also reported receipt of menacing email communications on Sunday evening, thereby instigating synchronized search operations across all the identified locations.
The medical institutions that found themselves the recipients of threatening emails encompassed the Dada Dev Hospital situated in Dabri, the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital located in Hari Nagar, the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital nestled in Dilshad Garden, the Hindu Rao Hospital positioned in Malka Ganj, and the Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital situated on Rajpur Road. Post the threat alerts, comprehensive search operations were initiated across all the aforementioned sites.
Dr. SK Kaakraan, serving as the Medical Superintendent at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, articulated, “The police and the bomb disposal squad undertook a thorough search of the entire hospital premises, however, no incriminating discoveries were made. Our internal inquiries are ongoing, with concurrent investigations being conducted by law enforcement.”
These threatening email communications emerged scarcely a fortnight subsequent to multiple educational institutions in the Delhi-NCR region receiving analogous bomb threats via electronic communications. According to the Delhi Police, a total of 131 educational institutions received such threat communications on May 1. Subsequently, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) released an official declaration categorizing the email communications as spurious.
