In the precincts of the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Biological Park, a lamentable event unfolded as four nascent tigress cubs met their untimely demise, as disclosed by officials on the recent Wednesday. These cubs drew their first breath into the world on the tenth day of May.
Situated within the confines of Ormanjhi, the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Biological Park served as the birthplace for this tragedy. Intelligence gleaned from Park sources revealed that a tigress christened Gauri delivered four cubs under the cloak of midnight on May 10. Tragically, the quartet of cubs, in their tender proximity to the tigress, succumbed to their fate, ensnared beneath her.
Surveillance through CCTV lenses ensued post the cubs’ birth, yet regrettably, their lives could not be salvaged. The demise of the newborn cubs precipitated a post-mortem examination followed by cremation, as relayed by sources within the Park.
In a desperate bid to intervene, the tigress was segregated from her progeny, albeit tardily, with three cubs already succumbed to their plight. Despite the critical condition of one cub, salvation eluded him.
Emanating from Park sources, an inquiry is imminent, and a comprehensive report shall be laid before the Park Director. Noteworthy for its scenic allure and commendable advancements, the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Biological Park sprawls across 104 hectares of mildly undulating terrain, adorned with natural dry deciduous Sal forests and adjacent water bodies.
