In a recent development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken disciplinary action against former Union Minister Jayant Sinha for abstaining from participation in campaign activities subsequent to the declaration of Manish Jaiswal as the candidate for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency, thereby tarnishing the party’s reputation.
Sinha, progeny of erstwhile Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, currently holds the position of Member of Parliament for Hazaribagh.
The admonition was delivered via a show cause notice issued by BJP’s state general secretary, Aditya Sahu, citing Sinha’s conspicuous absence from organizational duties and electoral canvassing following the nomination of Manish Sinha as the Hazaribagh LS candidate. Moreover, Sinha’s failure to exercise his electoral franchise has been viewed as detrimental to the party’s standing.
Within a stipulated period of two days, Jayant Sinha has been called upon to furnish an explanation regarding his actions. Regarding the subsequent course of action, Sahu indicated that it hinges upon Sinha’s response to the notice.
Notably, mere hours prior to the revelation of Jaiswal’s candidacy for Hazaribagh, Sinha had petitioned the party leadership for exemption from electoral engagements.
