Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to cultivating an environment conducive to the prosperity of startups.
Citing an impromptu remark by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal regarding his father’s skepticism about his potential success as a startup entrepreneur, primarily because they hailed from a modest lineage, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that in India, diligence supersedes lineage.
“In contemporary India, lineage is irrelevant. What holds significance is industriousness. Your journey is genuinely inspirational, @deepigoyal! It galvanizes innumerable young individuals to chase their entrepreneurial ambitions. We are devoted to establishing the optimal ecosystem for startups to thrive,” PM Modi articulated on X, accompanying a video snippet shared by Union Minister Hardeep Puri.
In the video excerpt, Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal recounts that when he initiated Zomato in 2008, his father queried, “Do you know who your father is?” His father believed that given their “humble background,” Goyal would be unable to sustain a startup.
“I originate from a small town in Punjab. However, over the past 16 years, significant transformations have occurred, particularly in the last 7-10 years,” he remarked, commending the central government’s initiatives.
In a succession of posts on the X platform, PM Modi extolled the dynamic vigor present throughout the nation, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. “Our administration actively champions startups and wealth creation,” the Prime Minister conveyed to innovators and entrepreneurs.
On Monday, technocrats and innovators highlighted that initiatives like the Atal Innovation Mission, Start-up India, Stand-Up India, and Digital India have spearheaded the metamorphosis of the Indian economy. They participated in the ‘Vishesh Sampark Abhiyan’ event in the national capital and engaged with Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Rajeev Chandrashekhar.
