A video showcasing a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan toasting Papad on the blistering sands of Rajasthan amidst an intense heatwave has garnered widespread attention online, eliciting a myriad of reactions across social media platforms.
In the footage, the jawan can be observed positioning the papad on the scorching sand, utilizing the extreme heat to roast it. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are anticipated to persist across parts of West Rajasthan, select areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh from May 22 to 26. Furthermore, isolated regions in northwest Madhya Pradesh and Delhi are also expected to experience similar conditions from May 24 to 26. The IMD has issued a red alert for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Western Uttar Pradesh over the next five days, cautioning that maximum daytime temperatures in several districts could exceed 47 degrees Celsius.
Social media users lauded the BSF jawan for his service under such formidable conditions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma expressed his admiration on X, stating, “Witnessing this video from Rajasthan’s deserts instills profound respect and gratitude for our jawans who protect us in such extraordinary circumstances. BSF India (sic).”
