Amidst the border region connecting Garhwa and Palamu in Jharkhand, law enforcement authorities have detained four individuals suspected of aligning with the Naxalite movement, wearing the distinctive attire of the group, as per informed sources on the weekend.
An official representing the police force disclosed that these four apprehended individuals, suspected to be affiliated with Naxalite factions, were detained during a targeted operation against Naxal activities in the borderlands between Garhwa and Palamu. Intensive questioning of the detainees is currently underway to ascertain their precise affiliations within the Naxalite spectrum.
Extensive efforts are ongoing in the vicinity to root out any additional Naxalite elements within the region. It’s been reported that the commencement of this anti-Naxalite drive was prompted by intelligence suggesting the presence of individuals adorned in Naxalite regalia, menacing local residents with demands for extortion payments in regions encompassing Chainpur and Ramgarh of Palamu, as well as Ramakanda Ranka of Garhwa. Promptly acting on this intelligence, Garhwa law enforcement initiated sweeping operations, culminating in the apprehension of four individuals sporting suspicious attire in the Thongapani locality falling under the jurisdiction of Ramakanda police station in Garhwa.
The locale where these four suspects were apprehended purportedly serves as a stronghold for outlawed Naxalite entities, namely the Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) and TSPC.
Recent instances have seen Garhwa police conducting successful operations resulting in the dismantling of a JJMP faction. YS Ramesh, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for Palamu, has affirmed that extensive search operations persist within the area concurrent with the ongoing interrogation of the apprehended suspects.
