In the wake of the Lok Sabha election polls and subsequent exit polls forecasting another triumph for Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the central helm, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to convene a virtual assembly with his party’s candidates, alongside the party’s president Mallikarjun Kharge, on Sunday morning, as per party insiders.
Following this initial convergence at 11 a.m., party insiders disclosed that Kharge and Gandhi will engage in a subsequent virtual discourse with key Congress dignitaries nationwide at 1 p.m. Anticipated attendees include Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, and other prominent party stalwarts, who will deliberate on the evaluations and strategic preparations for June 4, the designated date for vote tabulation.
The 1 p.m. conclave is expected to be broadcast live, offering transparency and engagement with a broader audience. This gathering transpires closely following the assembly of the opposition-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in the nation’s capital on Saturday.
Representatives from Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI-M, CPI, DMK, JMM, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar) convened at Kharge’s abode to engage in strategic deliberations.
The electoral exercise for the 543-member Lok Sabha coincided with the Assembly elections in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. The protracted voting saga, unfolding over seven phases, culminated on Saturday, with vote counting slated for June 4.
Exit polls, unveiled on Saturday, suggest a third consecutive landslide for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections, indicating an amplified performance in several states governed by rival factions.
Certain exit polls posited that the BJP-led NDA might surpass the “400 paar” milestone, an objective vocalized by BJP leaders during the election campaign. These projections suggest that the ruling NDA is set to outshine its 2019 feat of securing 352 seats.
Additionally, two polls forecasted an uptick in BJP’s seat count from the 303 seats clinched in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Under Narendra Modi’s stewardship, the BJP is vying for a third tenure, while the opposition INDIA coalition endeavors to halt the BJP juggernaut and wrest control.
