In Mumbai, law enforcement authorities apprehended a 25-year-old individual accused of assaulting the flight crew and attempting to unlatch the door of an Air India Express aircraft en route from Kozhikode to Bahrain. The event unfolded during an unexpected descent at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai on Saturday.
Identified as Abdul Musavir Nadukandee, the suspect, a native of Kerala, awoke upon departure from Kozhikode and promptly proceeded to the aft section of the plane. There, he purportedly engaged in physical altercations with the cabin crew and endeavored to unfasten the aircraft’s exit. Subsequently, upon being escorted back to his designated seat by the crew, Nadukandee proceeded to verbally assail fellow passengers while making threats to unlatch the emergency exit.
In response to the perceived threat, the pilot initiated an unplanned landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and promptly alerted airport security personnel. Authorities have since filed charges against the individual under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and relevant statutes of the Aircraft Act.
