In a recent discourse preceding the forthcoming revelation of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election outcomes on June 4, the distinguished Chef Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar took center stage.
In his discourse, Kumar articulated, “India has garnered global acclaim by engaging a staggering 64.2 crore electors, inclusive of 31.2 crore women, in the ongoing Lok Sabha electoral process. A colossal assemblage of over 68,000 oversight units and 1.5 crore personnel dedicated to polling supervision and security has been instrumental in orchestrating this mammoth democratic event.”
Expounding further, he divulged, “A multitude of resources totaling nearly four lakh vehicles, 135 specialized trains, and 1,692 aerial missions was marshaled to facilitate the administration of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The incidence of re-polling dwindled significantly to a mere 39 occurrences in the current electoral cycle, a stark reduction from the 540 instances witnessed in 2019.”
The CEC proceeded to highlight the unprecedented voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir, reaching a zenith not witnessed in the past four decades, with an overall participation rate of 58.58%, surging to 51.05% within the Valley enclave. “Confiscations amounting to a staggering Rs 10,000 crore, encompassing currency, gratuities, narcotics, and alcoholic beverages, were recorded during the 2024 electoral process, a stark escalation from the Rs 3,500 crore tally of 2019,” he asserted.
Anticipating the grand tallying of ballots for the Lok Sabha elections slated for June 4, the Election Commission is slated to convene a press congregation in Delhi at 12.30 PM on Monday. An official communiqué from the electoral authority entitled “Press Conference by Election Commission of India on General Elections 2024” heralded this imminent event.
This potential milestone marks an unprecedented departure from the traditional electoral chronicles of the nation, wherein the electoral authority convenes a post-election briefing for the first time. Preceding this development, the Election Commission, on the antecedent day, dispatched a missive to Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, soliciting substantiated evidence and particulars regarding his social media post alleging direct communications between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and 150 District Magistrates in the days preceding the scheduled vote tallying on June 4.
A rejoinder has been requisitioned from Jairam Ramesh by the evening of June 2, 2024, to facilitate further adjudicative measures. The extensive seven-phase electoral marathon for the Lok Sabha, inaugurated on April 19, culminated on Saturday, June 1.
Prognostications stemming from exit polls intimate a favorable trajectory for the ruling BJP-led NDA, poised to surpass its 2019 electoral performance wherein it secured 352 seats. Projections from two distinct polls suggest a further augmentation in BJP’s electoral fortunes from the commendable tally of 303 seats secured in the preceding 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Should the exit poll conjectures materialize and the BJP clinches victory upon the tabulation of ballots on June 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will etch his name in history as the solitary incumbent after Jawaharlal Nehru to secure three consecutive terms in the Lok Sabha elections.
