Amidst the current upheaval in Bihar’s political landscape, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s potential alignment with the BJP-led NDA coalition has stirred fresh turmoil. This marks his fourth political transition in the past decade and his second during this term in office. Reports suggest that Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) might sever ties with its current coalition partner, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, to align with the BJP-led NDA, positioning him for another term as Bihar’s chief executive.
As the divide within Bihar’s present administration deepens, all political factions convened their legislators for deliberations over the weekend. BJP state president Samrat Choudhary journeyed to Delhi to confer with the party’s senior leadership regarding the unfolding developments.
Sources from ABP News indicate that the allocation of ministerial positions within the government will adhere to conventional protocols. The JDU’s representation in the Lok Sabha is anticipated to decrease, with the party likely securing only 12 to 15 seats in the lower house. Insider reports suggest this decision aims to accommodate the interests of the remaining NDA coalition partners. While the BJP aims to maintain a majority of its current cabinet members, it also plans to introduce new faces into the fold.
There are expectations of a change in the Deputy Chief Minister’s position. Previously held by Tarkishore Yadav and Renu Devi, the cabinet’s composition is poised to follow a similar pattern. Alongside the BJP and JDU, other coalition partners such as the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) are likely to secure representation in the cabinet.
Recent remarks from Bihar’s chief minister indicate his discontent with the INDIA bloc, citing his exclusion from the alliance’s senior leadership despite his extensive political experience.
Speculation about a potential rift between the RJD and JDU gained traction following comments by Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, suggesting that Kumar is “shifting his ideology as frequently as the wind changes direction.”
Commenting on the political climate in Bihar, BJP MLA Gyanendra Singh Gyanu expressed certainty regarding an impending change, asserting that the transition is imminent and will culminate in the formation of an NDA-led government in Bihar within two days.
