Delhi Police PRO and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Suman Nalwa expressed her joy on social media, labeling it as a moment filled with “immense pride.
The Ministry of Defence proclaimed on Monday that the Delhi Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) emerged victorious as the paramount marching contingents in the Republic Day procession of 2024.
The Delhi Police clinched the coveted trophy for the preeminent women’s contingent in the ‘judges choice category’, while the CRPF secured triumph in the ‘popular choice category’, as per an official document issued by the defence ministry, as reported by PTI.
Promptly following the declaration, Suman Nalwa, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Delhi Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), conveyed her elation via social media, hailing it as a moment of “profound gratification.”
In a communication on ‘X’, she expressed, “A moment of profound gratification…The Delhi Police marching contingent in the Republic Day procession has been deemed the ‘Best Marching Contingent’ amidst the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and other supplementary forces in the Judges Choice category.” “Gratitude to all those who advocated for the Nari Shakti of the Delhi Police at Kartavya Path.
A ceremony for presenting trophies will be held at RR Camp in Delhi Cantonment at 12:30 pm on January 30. The trophies for the finest marching contingents and tableaux will be awarded by the Raksha Rajya Mantri.
In a groundbreaking move, the Delhi Police’s all-women contingents, along with an all-women pipe band, took part in the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path on January 26, according to the PTI report.
The Delhi Police contingents comprised one female gazetted officer, three women sub-inspectors, 44 women head constables, and 100 women constables. The Delhi Police Brass and Pipe Band included four women sub-inspectors and 81 women constables who performed the “Delhi Police Song” at Kartavya Path.
In contrast, the CRPF, which boasts one of the earliest women band contingents, had 100 women personnel who played the tune “Desk Ke Hum Hai Rakshak,” as mentioned in the PTI report.
The women contingent, consisting of 148 female personnel, was chosen from units deployed in various roles such as anti-insurgency, anti-Naxal, and law enforcement duties nationwide. This representation underscores the diversity of India, encompassing Mahila personnel from all corners of the country at Kartavya Path.
