Residents of Noida Extension have reason to rejoice, as efforts are underway to extend the Metro line to this area. Currently, the City Centre serves as the last metro station on the Noida line, but authorities are planning to further extend it. The new line, expected to be operational in the next two to three years, will provide seamless travel to Delhi for those living in Noida Extension.
The nearly seven-kilometer extension is estimated to cost around Rs 1,400 crore, with Noida and Greater Noida authorities sharing Rs 1,100 crore, depending on their respective jurisdictions. Two new stations are proposed to be built along this extended line.
In addition to this, the Noida Authority has approved a detailed project report (DPR) to link the Botanical Garden metro station with Kalindi Kunj. The proposals have been sent to the Uttar Pradesh government for approval. Once sanctioned, an MoU with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will be signed, and work could commence within three months. The Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj line is expected to cost Rs 845 crore, with the Noida Authority contributing Rs 500 crore.
The Noida board has also proposed an outlay of Rs 7,021 crore for the year 2012-13, representing a 40% increase from the previous year. This includes Rs 2,500 crore for land acquisition, Rs 3,000 crore for development, and Rs 500 crore for Metro extension.
Furthermore, the Noida Authority plans to launch a scheme to establish nursing homes, offering 11 plots of over 1,000 square meters for allotment by August 3. Only applicants whose nursing homes have been sealed are eligible to apply, and the allotment prices will be proportionate to the residential sector’s reserve price. Additionally, a scheme for banks is under consideration.
The Greater Noida board has incorporated five comments from the statutory committee of the NCR Planning Board in its Master Plan 2021 and has forwarded it to the state government for approval.
