New Delhi: The BMW car seized from Hemant Soren’s residence in Delhi reportedly does not belong to him but is registered under the name of Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Congress. Sahu had previously made headlines when Income Tax officials raided his premises in December, uncovering a massive cash recovery of ₹351 crore. The money was associated with Sahu’s liquor business, and he had asserted that it had no connection to the Congress.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now summoned Dhiraj Prasad Sahu for questioning in connection with the BMW found at Hemant Soren’s residence. Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, was arrested last week as part of an investigation into an alleged illegal land ownership change racket orchestrated by the mafia in Jharkhand. He resigned from his position before his arrest and has denied the accusations, accusing the BJP of manipulating investigative agencies to destabilize democratically elected governments.
The ED discovered the blue BMW with a Haryana license plate during a raid on Soren’s Delhi home on January 29. The car, initially thought to belong to Soren, is now linked to the Congress MP from Jharkhand, raising further questions about the connection between political figures and ongoing financial investigations.
