In the heart of New Delhi, the ex-Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott, has extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailing him as the preeminent companion from India. Abbott, conveying his well-wishes for the imminent Lok Sabha elections, characterized India as a resilient democracy. He affirmed Australia’s keenness to perpetuate its collaborations with Prime Minister Modi over the years to come. In an exclusive interaction with ANI, the former Australian premier articulated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the quintessential Indian ally for Australia, and I extend my best wishes to him for the forthcoming electoral endeavors.”
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of India’s democratic fabric, Abbott refrained from dispensing counsel to the Indian populace. However, he expressed the Australian standpoint, asserting a continued eagerness for sustained diplomatic engagements with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “India, by nature, embodies a robust democratic ethos, occasionally experiencing governmental transitions. From the Australian standpoint, we are more than willing to foster ongoing partnerships with Prime Minister Modi well into the foreseeable future,” he remarked.
Simultaneously, Abbott underscored the robustness of the bilateral relations between India and Australia, emphasizing the enduring strength of their ties. He commended the reliability in business dealings with India, citing the absence of arbitrary disruptions in trade. “The existing rapport is robust and progressively intensifying. Doing business with India is particularly noteworthy for its stability, with trade interruptions being unlikely for capricious reasons,” Abbott elucidated.
He further expounded on India’s burgeoning influence, characterizing it as the world’s emerging democratic superpower. Abbott envisaged India hurtling down the runway towards a comprehensive economic ascent, citing the evident surge in infrastructure development across major Indian cities as a testament to this trajectory.
As the political panorama in India undergoes a marked transformation in anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) consortium is poised to challenge the established National Democratic Alliance. Reflecting on the electoral landscape, Abbott referenced the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2019, where the NDA secured 353 seats, the UPA garnered 91, and Others claimed 98. With voting spanning seven phases between April 11 and May 19, witnessing the participation of approximately 67 percent of the nearly 900 million eligible voters, the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April and May this year portend a consequential chapter in India’s political narrative.
