Without further ado, let us embark on the narrative of Anas, a denizen of Lisadi Gate in Meerut, who has sought justice from the exalted chambers of the Allahabad High Court. His grievance stems from the Meenut Police’s actions in confiscating 28 camels in the bygone year of 2019 and, regrettably, failing to restore them to him till this very day.
Anas, an aggrieved purchaser of the aforementioned camels during the auspicious Eid celebrations in August 2019, found himself entangled in a web of stringent measures imposed by the police and administration, forbidding the sacrificial rites of the camels. Consequently, the Lisadi Gate Police took decisive action, seizing his herd.
The plaintiff, Anas, alleges that assurances were made by the police, asserting that his 28 camels had been impounded and relocated to the Camel Conservation Centre. However, despite a court order from the City Magistrate mandating the return of the camels, they remain elusive. Anas’s legal representative, Shams-u-Zaman, contends that the High Court’s directive to the Circle Officer of Kotwali, urging remedial action and the return of the camels, went unheeded.
Frustrated by this turn of events, Anas sought sanctuary in the High Court in the year 2022, fervently pleading for justice in the retrieval of his camels. On January 12, 2023, another order was decreed, reiterating the imperative return of the camels. Regrettably, no tangible progress ensued. Consequently, Anas has resorted to filing a fresh petition, imploring for the restitution of his camels.
The complainant’s legal counsel divulges that this time around, senior officials of the state police and administration have been included as parties in the case. The impending hearing of this matter is scheduled in the august precincts of the Allahabad High Court on March 18.
