Amidst the backdrop of Haldwani in Uttarakhand, the Uttarakhand Police has apprehended Abdul Malik, the alleged instigator of the Banbhulpura turmoil. Currently, Malik and his close confidants find themselves in the firm grip of police custody.
In the confines of the Kathgodam police station, Abdul Malik and his associates underwent rigorous interrogation by the Uttarakhand Police. Inside sources within the police department revealed startling revelations made by Malik himself. It was disclosed that the issue of questionable land transactions extends beyond Banbhulpura, permeating various regions in Haldwani, where properties change hands using meager Rs 100 and Rs 50 stamp papers.
“During our questioning of Malik regarding illicit madrassas and places of worship, he openly confessed to having erected numerous madrasas and religious structures,” divulged sources within the police.
Further delving into the intricacies of the interrogation, Malik purported that his land, initially barren, was transformed into a madrasa to facilitate education for underprivileged children.
Police insiders hinted at the possibility of interrogating Malik’s relatives, widening the scope of the investigation. Abdul Malik now stands as the central figure in the Haldwani unrest, following his arrest by the Uttarakhand Police on February 8, along with 82 others, when violence erupted within the jurisdiction of the Banbhulpura police station.
Simultaneously, the Haldwani Police successfully apprehended Abdul Malik’s son, Abdul Moeed, from the National Capital Region (NCR) in Delhi. Prahlad Narayan Meena, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Nainital, confirmed this development.
He detailed the extensive efforts of police teams, spanning locations in Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, eventually leading to the arrest of Abdul Moeed in the Delhi NCR. The Senior Superintendent expressed gratitude to the team by awarding a bounty of Rs 5,000, while an additional reward of Rs 2,500 was granted by the DIG Kumaon.
The investigation continues to identify more individuals implicated in this case, utilizing photographic and video evidence. The commitment is clear: those found culpable will face the consequences, as emphasized by the Senior Superintendent.
