In the pursuit of captivating the nation’s youth preceding the impending Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, is poised to unveil a decalogue of electoral commitments tailored specifically for the young populace and the unemployed during a gathering in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, as per reliable sources.
The forthcoming rally, set to transpire in Badnawar District of Madhya Pradesh, will witness addresses from both Rahul Gandhi and the President of Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, where the outlined electoral promises are anticipated to take center stage, adding an element of intrigue to the political discourse.
As the electoral season steadily approaches, the Congress Election Committee (CEC), under the stewardship of Kharge, is scheduled to convene on Thursday for the purpose of finalizing candidate selections across several states, including Kerala and Karnataka. In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already disclosed its slate of 195 candidates.
Simultaneously, a dedicated Congress panel entrusted with formulating the party’s manifesto for the impending Lok Sabha polls has meticulously crafted a preliminary version, which is now slated for in-depth examination by the Congress Working Committee.
P. Chidambaram, the former Finance Minister who helms the manifesto committee, articulated that the draft report is set for presentation before Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. “The manifesto draft is ready for submission to the Congress Working Committee. Their conclusive deliberation will transform the draft into an official document of the Congress party. Tomorrow, this draft will be handed over to the Congress President,” he asserted on Tuesday.
The Congress party, gearing up to launch its electoral campaign for the Lok Sabha polls in the coming week, envisions a multifaceted outreach strategy catering to diverse age demographics, according to insider information. An integral component of this strategy involves the prominent display of billboards pledging a statutory assurance for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. In a previous commitment made during the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ March, the party had underscored its intent to enshrine a legal guarantee for MSP if entrusted with electoral victory.
Furthermore, the Congress has undertaken a pledge to orchestrate a comprehensive nationwide caste census should it secure a mandate. In an effort to bolster the momentum of the electoral campaign, the Congress has strategically appointed a substantial force of one hundred thousand Booth Level Agents (BLA). The Lok Sabha polls are tentatively scheduled to transpire in the months of April and May this year.
