Two individuals found themselves apprehended by the Gomti Nagar authorities on Wednesday subsequent to a video showcasing their audacious maneuvers in a high-end vehicle gaining widespread attention on social media last Sunday.
The brief but captivating video, disseminated on March 3, depicted the men executing daring stunts in close proximity to the roundabout adjacent to Janeshwar Mishra Park.
In the footage, they maneuvered the vehicle at remarkable speeds, with individuals suspended from both sides of the car doors. Simultaneously, another vehicle tailing them diligently documented the spectacle.
A police statement revealed, “An FIR has been filed on March 5 at the Gomti Nagar extension police station, citing violations under sections 279 (negligent driving), 287 (negligence), 336 (act of endangering life), 290 (public nuisance), and 184 MV Act.” Employing ITMS and technical acumen, the law enforcement successfully apprehended the duo near Gate 6 of the aforementioned park underpass.
The arrested individuals were identified as Aadish, a 23-year-old resident of Gorakhpur, assuming the role of the driver, and Ashish Sharma, a 25-year-old native of Hardoi, actively participating in the audacious stunt. The police also impounded their vehicle. Both men have been remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days.
The vicinity near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Gomti Nagar extension has emerged as a focal point for reckless driving incidents and accidents.
In a recent occurrence, a four-wheeler catapulted over an elevated pedestrian walkway near Janeshwar Mishra Park, breaching the railing of the island crossing.
Tragically, back in November, a 9-year-old named Naismish, the offspring of Additional SP Sweta Srivastava, lost his life in a collision with a “speeding SUV” while engaged in skating practice near the park. Subsequent to this tragedy, the police initiated a week-long crackdown on speeding vehicles, resulting in numerous bookings for excessive speed.
