In the realm of political intricacies, Congress luminary Navjot Singh Sidhu asserts that Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, once approached him with a willingness to align with the party.
Sidhu divulged this revelation during a media interview, responding to speculations about potential collaboration with the BJP and addressing queries about any prior overtures from the said party. He disseminated a snippet of this interview via his X handle.
Mann, the incumbent Chief Minister, has yet to issue a prompt rejoinder to Sidhu’s proclamations. Sidhu expounded, stating, “I can unequivocally identify the individual who approached me. Bhagwant Mann sahab extended the invitation. If he wishes to divulge, I am prepared to disclose the locale of our rendezvous.”
He elaborated on Mann’s entreaty, recounting, “He conveyed to me, paaji, I stand prepared to be your deputy, should my inclusion fortify the Congress. Moreover, he articulated a parallel readiness to assume the role even if my political sojourn led me to the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Sidhu further asserted that he communicated his steadfast allegiance to Congress stalwarts Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, deeming it implausible to sever ties with them.
In the course of their discourse, Sidhu purportedly encouraged Mann to consider joining the Congress, urging him to engage with the party’s central leadership in Delhi. Subsequent to this exchange, the matter was left unexplored.
Sidhu affirmed his singular commitment to serving the populace of Punjab. He directed scrutiny towards the AAP-led government under Mann’s stewardship, highlighting Punjab’s escalating indebtedness. “They traverse the skies in aerial conveyances and indulge in opulent vehicular pursuits, yet the onus of the burgeoning debt rests squarely on the shoulders of the Punjabis,” Sidhu remarked.
