In a startling occurrence, an unidentified assailant fatally wounded a police constable during his Nahashivratri duty in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan on the 8th of March, as reported by local law enforcement.
The tragic event transpired in Lotana village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Swaroopganj police station in the district. The assailants, cloaked in anonymity, ruthlessly took the life of Constable Niranjan Singh by thrusting a knife into him. The deceased, hailing from Gotan in Nagaur district, was identified as Niranjan Singh.
Providing additional insights into the incident, CO Pindwara Jethu Singh disclosed that Constable Singh, stationed at the Swaroopganj police station in Sirohi, was on duty during the Mahashivratri festival at the Sartaneshwar Mahadev temple in the village.
“Late into the night, two tribal factions engaged in a dispute. Constable Niranjan Singh endeavored to mediate between the parties. In the midst of his efforts, malefactors assaulted the constable with a knife, resulting in his untimely demise,” elucidated CO Pindwara Jethu Singh.
Upon receiving news of the constable’s murder, SP Anil Kumar, Pindwara DYSP Jethusingh Karnot, Pindwara CI Hamirsingh Bhati, Rohida Police Station Officer Jitendra Singh Deora, and Swaroopganj police station personnel swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The body was taken into custody, while ongoing investigations continue.
Sirohi SP Anil Kumar also visited Swaroopganj Hospital to gather information about the incident. Subsequent to the occurrence, a substantial police presence was deployed in Lotana village. Multiple police teams are diligently scouring for the culprits responsible for the attack.
Several individuals have been implicated in connection to this case and are presently under arrest, undergoing rigorous interrogation by law enforcement. Meanwhile, the distressing demise of the constable has not only cast a pall of sorrow over the police department but has also left the grieving family in a state of profound shock and disbelief.
