In the virtual inauguration held on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Light House Project (LHP) situated in the Dhurwa area of Ranchi. During the Ranchi event, ten beneficiaries were ceremonially presented with house keys, symbolizing the token distribution, as outlined by Aditya Kumar Anand, the Director of the Directorate of Municipal Administration.
Anand further elaborated that the allocation of dwelling units to all beneficiaries would be executed in a phased manner, with completion expected by April. The initiation of the project took place through a video-conferencing foundation ceremony led by the Prime Minister on January 1, 2021. Comprising a total of 1,008 affordable residences, the LHP primarily caters to the housing needs of the economically disadvantaged and middle-class demographic. The individual flat’s carpet area is estimated to be around 315 square feet.
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) adopted a lottery system to meticulously select the beneficiaries for the project, according to an official statement. The construction of the project unfolded on a 7.5-acre expanse, employing avant-garde construction methodologies known as ‘NAVARITIH’ (novel, economically viable, validated, research-based innovation technologies for Indian housing). The entire venture was executed at an expenditure of Rs 134 crore.
