In the realm of Bihar politics, the persistent quagmire of seat-sharing looms large, be it within the NDA or the broader INDIA bloc. The coveted Hajipur Lok Sabha seat is now a focal point of contention, with Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and his nephew, Chirag Paswan, both harboring aspirations for its occupancy. Meanwhile, the former BJP state president and Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, have journeyed to the Delhi abode of BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde.
In the discourse with Tawde, Chaudhary delved into myriad salient issues concerning Bihar politics and the imminent polls. The primary predicament, however, revolves around the escalating familial discord between uncle and nephew. A day prior to Chaudhary’s audience with Tawde, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party president Paras had sought Tawde’s audience, ardently asserting his claim to the Hajipur seat.
Insider accounts divulge that Paras conveyed his resolve to exclusively vie for the electoral battle in Hajipur. In response, Tawde urged Paras to collaborate with his nephew, Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), in arriving at a mutual decision regarding the contested seat. It is purported that Tawde emphasized the importance of a united decision between the familial contenders.
However, sources suggest that Paras did not unequivocally affirm this proposal. Instead, he made it explicit that while he harbors no objection to Chirag’s affiliation with the NDA, his party and sentiments cannot harmonize with his nephew’s political stance.
Notably, Chirag Paswan, the solitary parliamentarian representing his party, steadfastly asserts his entitlement to the Hajipur seat. Simultaneously, his uncle remains resolute in retaining control over this electoral stronghold, unwilling to relinquish it under any circumstances. Paras is unwavering in his determination to contest the elections specifically from the Hajipur seat, emphatically asserting his unwillingness to compromise on alternative arrangements.
