In Dhule, the distinguished Congress figure Rahul Gandhi unveiled five ‘Mahila Nyay’ assurances, encompassing a grant of Rs 1 lakh to impoverished women, a 50 percent allocation in governmental employments, and accommodations for women in hostels. This declaration was made during his address at a gathering known as the Mahila Melava Meeting, marking the concluding phase of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Maharashtra.
During his discourse, he censured Prime Minister Narendra Modi for orchestrating a grand spectacle in the Parliament regarding the enactment of women’s reservation, which is scheduled to be implemented post the forthcoming census, a decade hence.
Gandhi articulated, “Narendra Modi theatrically enacted the passage of the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha. However, subsequently, you, the women, were apprised that the fruition of this reservation awaits the conclusion of the census, a decade hence.”
He pledged, “Upon the assumption of power by the Congress party, women shall be accorded reservation sans the necessity of any survey.”
Furthermore, he indicted Modi for absolving loans amounting to Rs 16 lakh crore bestowed upon tycoons, equating it to 24 years’ worth of the budget allocated to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme.
Gandhi expounded, “Narendra Modi pardoned Rs. 16 lakh crore for tycoons. The yearly budget of MNREGA stands at Rs. 65 thousand crores. This translates to Modi allocating the equivalent of 24 years’ worth of MNREGA funds to tycoons.”
He advocated for the waiver of loans for farmers, laborers, and small-scale traders as well, asserting, “If the debts of tycoons can be absolved, then it follows that the obligations of farmers, laborers, and small-scale traders ought to be forgiven.”
