In a startling incident of sexual misconduct, a constable from the Uttar Pradesh police force purportedly perpetrated sexual assault against his female colleague in Jalaun district, prompting an embarrassed reaction from the Police Department.
The police initiated legal proceedings against the implicated constable in response to a formal complaint filed by the female constable.
In her formal grievance lodged at the pertinent police station, the complainant detailed how the accused constable, identified as Karmaveer, engaged in multiple acts of sexual violence and issued threats of violence against her upon her attempts to report the incidents to authorities.
The accused, presently stationed at the police barracks, had been transferred to the same location as the female constable, where the alleged sexual assaults are believed to have transpired.
The female constable asserted in her complaint that constable Karmaveer subjected her to repeated sexual assaults, and whenever she endeavored to report the matter, he resorted to intimidation tactics. Subsequent to the transfer of constable Karmaveer, the female constable brought the matter to the attention of higher authorities, according to sources.
Upon receiving the complaint from the female constable, the police promptly registered the case and initiated legal proceedings against the implicated constable. Superintendent of Police, Dr. Iraj Raja, confirmed that the report had been officially documented, and further legal measures were underway.
The purported rape of the female constable by her fellow colleague has caused a significant uproar within the police force, casting a shadow of disgrace over the department.
This incident has also prompted inquiries into the efficacy of measures ensuring the safety of women within the Police Department, an entity entrusted with the responsibility of protecting women from instances of sexual misconduct.
