In the district of Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, an individual, apprehended in connection with illicit drug distribution, succumbed during transit from his rural dwelling to Lucknow by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday, an authoritative source disclosed. The deceased, recognized as Ajay Singh, also known as Shakti Singh, aged 42, was sought after by the Gomtinagar Police Station in Lucknow, pertaining to a case filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. STF personnel detained him on Sunday evening from his abode in the Lakhhara village situated in Sangipur, as per officials.
His physical state deteriorated promptly upon departure from his residence. STF authorities promptly conveyed him to the Lalganj Trauma Centre, subsequently transferring him to the medical college where medical practitioners pronounced him deceased, officials appended. The offspring of the deceased asserted that notwithstanding presenting the hospital documentation and medications, STF personnel displayed disregard for her father’s well-being. She alleged that the personnel forcibly removed her father from their home, resulting in his demise. The progeny of the deceased then filed a grievance at the Sangipur Police Station, prompting the police to initiate legal proceedings based on the grievance.
Ram Surat Sonkar, the Circle Officer, stated, “Ajay was implicated in a drug trafficking incident and suffered from cardiac issues. The squad apprehended him on Sunday, and he succumbed to a cardiac arrest.” Sanjay Rai, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) West in Pratapgarh, has also journeyed to the Sangipur Police Station to scrutinize the occurrence. The cadaver has been dispatched for a post-mortem examination. The precise cause of demise will be ascertained subsequent to the issuance of the post-mortem report, as indicated by the police.
