Abu Dhabi: The Indian embassy in the United Arab Emirates on Friday advised Indian passengers heading to or transiting through Dubai International Airport to defer non-essential journeys until conditions stabilize after the metropolis experienced extraordinary rainfall this week.

The United Arab Emirates is striving to recuperate from this week’s record-setting downpour, which led to extensive flooding in Dubai and its neighboring locales.

The embassy, in its advisory, stated that while UAE authorities work tirelessly to restore normalcy, airport officials have recommended passengers head to the airport only after securing definitive confirmation from airlines regarding flight schedules.

As a consequence of the severe weather disruptions earlier in the week, Dubai International Airport has temporarily reduced the volume of incoming flights, the advisory noted.

Dubai International Airport, recognized as the world’s busiest for international travel, aims to resume its regular operations within 24 hours. “Inbound Indian travelers making their way to or passing through Dubai International Airport should postpone unnecessary travel until circumstances stabilize,” the advisory underscored.

“To assist Indian citizens at Dubai International Airport, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has activated emergency helpline lines, operational since April 17,” the statement affirmed.
