In a spectacular event held here, Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic clinched the prestigious Miss World 2024 title, while Miss Lebanon, Yasmina Zaytoun, secured the position of first runner-up.
The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, gracefully crowned her successor amidst the glitz and glamour of the finale. Representing India, Sini Shetty, a 22-year-old beauty hailing from Mumbai and the winner of Femina Miss India World 2022, graced the stage. Despite her remarkable journey, Shetty fell short of reaching the top 4 finalists in the competition.
India boasts a rich history with the Miss World pageant, having claimed the crown six times in the past. Notable winners include Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017). The 71st edition of the Miss World pageant saw the participation of contestants from 112 countries worldwide, hosted at the prestigious Jio World Convention Centre in BKC.
The panel of 12 judges for the finale comprised distinguished personalities such as film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, news personality Rajat Sharma, social worker Amruta Fadnavis, Vineet Jain (MD of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Limited), Julia Morley (Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization), Jamil Saidi (Strategic Partner & Host – Miss World India), and three former Miss World winners, including Manushi Chillar.
The event, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young, commenced on an electrifying note with captivating performances by renowned singers Shaan, Neha Kakkar, and Tony Kakkar. A poignant video message by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, emphasizing the significance of ‘beauty with purpose’, resonated throughout the venue.
Adding to the allure of the evening, the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” graced the stage alongside 13 fast-track Miss World contestants, showcasing the newly released song “Sakal Ban”.
Throughout the month-long event, contestants engaged in a series of rigorous competitions, including talent showcases, sports challenges, and charitable initiatives, underscoring their roles as ambassadors of change. The grand finale was exclusively streamed live in India on Sony LIV, captivating audiences nationwide.
