Janhvi Kapoor graced the Indian Premier League (IPL) final clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 26, held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Accompanied by her co-star from “Mr and Mrs Mahi,” Rajkummar Rao, she took a respite from her hectic schedule to pay homage at a temple cherished dearly by her late mother, the legendary Sridevi.

Capturing snippets of her pilgrimage to the Muppathanam temple, Janhvi radiated elegance in a floral lehenga, captured in poses alongside her aunt, Maheshwari Ayyappan. She penned, “Stepping into Muppathanam temple for the first time – a place deeply cherished by mumma during her visits to Chennai.”

The void left by her mother’s untimely demise in 2018 remains palpable in Janhvi and her sister Khushi’s lives. Since then, Janhvi has made it her mission to commemorate her mother’s legacy on every significant occasion. Reflecting on the promotions of “Mr & Mrs Mahi,” Janhvi opened up about how her mother’s passing propelled her towards embracing religious rituals. Initially skeptical of superstitions, such as avoiding specific actions on particular dates or shunning black attire on Fridays, Janhvi gradually found herself gravitating towards these practices following her mother’s transition.

The actress fondly reminisced about her mother’s devoutness to Lord Balaji at the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. Sridevi would often chant His name and make an annual pilgrimage to the temple on her birthday. Upholding her mother’s tradition, Janhvi now visits the temple annually on her birthday, seeking solace and a profound emotional connection.

As Janhvi gears up for the premiere of “Mr and Mrs Mahi” on May 31, she also has “Devara: Part 1,” featuring Jr NTR, in production, alongside “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan. Backed by Karan Johar and helmed by Shashank Khaitan, her upcoming projects promise a diverse cinematic journey.
