Nearly a week ago, the iconic actress Zeenat Aman shared her candid thoughts on live-in relationships. In a detailed post on her social media profile, she advised young couples to consider living together before making a lifelong commitment. However, her viewpoint faced criticism from veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who expressed strong disagreement with the concept. Additionally, Soni Razdan playfully took a jab at Mukesh Khanna via her own social media platform.

During a recent interview, Mukesh Khanna strongly opposed Zeenat Aman’s stance on live-in relationships, labeling it as incompatible with Indian cultural norms and suggesting it originated from the West. On the contrary, Soni Razdan dismissed Khanna’s stance and supported Aman’s perspective on the matter.

In response to Mukesh Khanna’s criticism, Soni Razdan highlighted the potential challenges of living together without compatibility. She humorously remarked, “Oh my! Just imagine the scenario where a couple is living together in a ‘live-in’ relationship but can’t get along. It’s quite a mind-boggling thought,” followed by a smiling emoji.

During his interview, Khanna continued to express his disapproval of live-in relationships, attributing their introduction to Western influence. He criticized Zeenat Aman for promoting a lifestyle he deemed inconsistent with traditional Indian values, cautioning against the possible ramifications of such arrangements.

“Live-in relationships are not part of our cultural history. They are a product of Western civilization. Zeenat Aman speaks on this matter, and she has led her life following Western culture from the beginning. This is not acceptable in Indian society. Just think, if a young man and woman live together as if they are married, and they do not get along, then imagine the consequences for both. Those advocating for such ideas should think carefully before speaking,” remarked the 65-year-old actor.

Zeenat Aman, on the other hand, shared her personal perspective on live-in relationships when asked by her followers on Instagram. “One of you asked me for relationship advice in the comments of my last post. Here’s an opinion I haven’t shared before – if you’re in a relationship, I strongly advise you to LIVE TOGETHER before tying the knot!” wrote the actress.

Continuing her thoughts, she questioned, “It’s easy to present your best self for a few hours a day. But can you handle sharing a bathroom? Navigating through a partner’s bad mood? Agreeing on dinner every night? Keeping the spark alive in the bedroom? Working through the countless small conflicts that inevitably arise between two people living in close quarters? In essence – are you truly compatible?”

Despite the societal taboos surrounding live-in relationships, Zeenat advocated for a more practical approach to partnerships. She concluded by acknowledging the conservative views prevalent in Indian society, stating, “I understand that Indian society may frown upon ‘living in sin,’ but then again, society frowns upon many things! Log kya kahenge?”
