Actress Mita Vashisht is set to grace the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival with her film “The Shameless” being selected for a special screening at the prestigious event. Known for her performances in movies like “Droh Kaal,” “Dil Se..,” and “Chhorii,” Vashisht shared this exhilarating news with her supporters through her social media.

Posting on Instagram, the actress revealed the movie’s official poster adorned with the Cannes Film Festival insignia. Her caption expressed enthusiasm, reflecting on the serendipitous chain of events that led to their Cannes appearance. She remarked, “We are going to Cannes in 2024! Filming THE SHAMELESS last March in Nepal… never anticipated that the next year would see us journeying to Cannes. It still feels surreal!”

“The Shameless,” helmed by director Konstantin Bojanov, unfolds the story of Rani, an Indian sex worker who sets off on a spiritual journey to a distant temple. Along the way, she confronts her history, delving into a complex romantic entanglement with a man incarcerated for murder in Bengaluru.

The film has been selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the renowned festival. Produced in cooperation with AKKA Films, Urban Factory, Klas Film, and House on Fire Productions, the project garnered backing from communities in Nepal, India, France, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Taiwan.
