A recent incident in Mumbai has thrust Bollywood luminary Vidya Balan into the throes of cybercrime. Balan, known for her avid social media engagement, fell prey to a malevolent act, reporting to the Mumbai Police an impersonation episode where an impostor fabricated a spurious Instagram account using her identity, soliciting funds. The legal apparatus has initiated an inquiry, invoking Section 66 (C) of the IT Act.

Vidya Balan, a stalwart on social media, recognized for disseminating videos and reels adored by her followers, now grapples with the ramifications of her identity being exploited for pecuniary gain. The investigative revelation unveils the malefactor’s creation of a counterfeit Instagram and Gmail account in Vidya Balan’s nomenclature. The unscrupulous individual reached out to denizens of the Bollywood realm, peddling employment opportunities in exchange for financial remuneration.

In response to this egregious transgression, Vidya Balan lodged a formal complaint with the Mumbai Police, precipitating the initiation of an FIR. Notably, Vidya had previously alluded to the sham account in her Instagram narratives.

On the professional front, Vidya Balan is poised to join the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, reprising her role as Manjulika. Kartik Aaryan, the protagonist of the second installment and also slated to lead the third, extended a warm welcome to Vidya. Anees Bazmee, the director of the second installment, will helm the third part as well. The franchise’s custodian, Bhushan Kumar, expressed exuberance about the continuation of the series, vowing a riveting cinematic experience for the audience. The cinematic offering is slated for release this Diwali.
