In her familial excursion to Mangalore, Bollywood luminary Shilpa Shetty was entranced by the Daiva Kola, a traditional spectacle indigenous to the Tulu-speaking precincts of Karnataka. Sharing her revelatory encounter on Instagram, she voiced her commitment to acquainting her progeny with their ancestral legacy.

The vibrant Daiva Kola, an age-old ceremonial display endemic to the Tulu-speaking domains of Karnataka, captivated Shilpa Shetty, accompanied by her maternal figure and offspring, during their sojourn on a Sunday. In an Instagram proclamation, she articulated her endeavor to introduce her offspring to her rich cultural heritage, accompanied by a video vignette chronicling her immersive reverie in her native environs.

Accompanied by her offspring, Viaan and Samisha, Shilpa partook in the Kodamantaya Daiva Kola in Mangalore. Reflecting in a missive, she delineated her offspring’s mesmerization with the spectacle. “Tulunadu da Ponnu (Maiden from Tulunadu), reconnecting with my lineage, rekindling my roots. Initiated my offspring into the tapestry of my cultural lineage. Witnessed the Nagamandala and the customary Kodamantaya daiva Kola in Mangalore. My progeny were spellbound, and notwithstanding my repeated viewings, the spectacle never fails to enthrall me, witnessing the potency and devotion imbued within.”

The enthralling ritualistic extravaganza, Daiva Kola, indigenous to the Tulu-speaking enclaves of Karnataka, is deeply entrenched in local ethos. This ritual amalgamates melodies, choreography, theatrical flair, and spiritual zeal, culminating in a kaleidoscopic showcase of cultural ethos. The performance unfolds before an audience predominantly composed of denizens, congregated to beseech divine intervention in personal or communal matters. Beyond serving as a conduit for spiritual communion, Daiva Kola serves to fortify communal bonds and preserve societal cohesion.

One of the cinematic endeavors that eloquently elucidated the essence of Daiva Kola to the masses was Rishab Shetty’s opus, Kantara. The cinematic opus tendered a celestial and poignant narrative hailing from the southern coastal terrains of India, resonating with myriad hearts. The prelude to the cinematic narrative is presently in the throes of production. Meanwhile, Shilpa’s most recent celluloid outing was in Sukhee.
