In the wake of an enigmatic teaser, the creators of the impending cinematic opus, Ae Watan Mere Watan, starring Sara Ali Khan, divulged its official trailer on the onset of the week. Within the film, Sara assumes the character of Usha, a dauntless 22-year-old, exhibiting extraordinary valor and profound nationalism amid the 1942 Quit India Movement. Usha ingeniously employed a subterranean radio apparatus to galvanize the populace against the British Raj.

The trailer, extending nearly three minutes, showcases Sara drawing inspiration from the sagacious words of Mahatma Gandhi concerning fortitude and gallantry. The actress endures physical assaults in the pursuit of freedom, even as her familial circle dissuades her from vociferously opposing British rule, casting doubt upon the notion that Indians are incapable of self-governance.

Establishing a wireless communication hub, Usha transforms it into the resonant voice of India’s struggle for freedom, standing resilient against British tyranny. Prepared to lay down her life for the nation, the youthful Usha, embodied by Sara, delivers dialogues that send shivers down the spine, such as “Karo Ya Maro (Do or Die),” and expresses unwavering resolve with statements like “Aap mujhe jaan se maar sakte hai, par zinda rehkar ye radio band nahi hone dungi (You can kill me, but I won’t let this radio station shut down as long as I’m alive).”

Ae Watan Mere Watan, a narrative inspired by actual events, unfolds a fictitious chronicle of an underground broadcast facility led by a daring young woman, reshaping the trajectory of India’s quest for independence. Drawing from the remarkable expedition of freedom fighter Usha Mehta, the film pays homage to both recognized and overlooked champions, encapsulating the valor, patriotism, sacrifice, and determination exhibited by the youth of India throughout the struggle for freedom.

Steered by Kannan Iyer and scripted by Iyer and Darab Farooqui, Ae Watan Mere Watan stars Sara Ali Khan in the principal role, supported by Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari, with a special cameo by Emraan Hashmi.

Produced under the aegis of Dharmatic Entertainment by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, Ae Watan Mere Watan is scheduled for its debut on Prime Video on March 21st.
