Randeep Hooda and Kunal Kemmu, eminent in their directorial undertakings, unveiled their cinematic creations, “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” and “Madgaon Express,” unto the silver screen this past Friday. Though divergent in genre, both films are presently engaged in a fierce contest for supremacy at the box office. While “Madgaon Express” delights audiences with its comedic essence, the counterpart narrates the biographical odyssey of an Indian revolutionary luminary.
Initial reception towards both films has been commendatory, garnering praise from both critics and viewers alike. However, subsequent to an auspicious commencement at the box office, both “Madgaon Express” and “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” have experienced a downturn in financial yield. Per industry analytics by Sacnilk, Randeep Hooda’s magnum opus accrued a modest sum of just over Rs 1 crore within the Indian market on its inaugural Tuesday.
The film commenced its theatrical journey with a collection of Rs 1.05 crore on its premiere, followed by Rs 2.25 crore on the succeeding day. Subsequently, on the third day, it amassed Rs 2.7 crore, while on the fourth, it garnered Rs 2.15 crore. Preliminary assessments suggest that on its fifth day, the film accrued Rs 1.10 crore net in India, amounting to a cumulative total of Rs 9.15 crore net thus far.
In addition to helming this historical saga, Randeep Hooda assumes the mantle of the protagonist. The ensemble cast includes Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial. This cinematic rendition of the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was unveiled in both Hindi and Marathi languages. The production is a collaborative effort between Zed Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Randeep Hooda, and Yogesh Rahar.
Conversely, the comedic narrative of “Madgaon Express” also witnessed a decline in revenue on Tuesday. As per Sacnilk, the film commenced its theatrical journey with a collection of Rs 1.5 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 2.75 crore on day two, Rs 2.8 crore on day three, and Rs 2.6 crore on day four. On the fifth day, the film accrued Rs 1.50 crore.
Preliminary estimates suggest that on its sixth day, the film amassed Rs 1.50 crore net in India, thus elevating its cumulative earnings to Rs 11.15 crore. The storyline revolves around three youthful protagonists harboring aspirations of embarking on a Goa-bound sojourn. However, their anticipated vacation swiftly descends into chaos following their embarkation upon the “Madgaon Express” train en route to Goa.
“Madgaon Express” boasts a cast comprising Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam. The production is spearheaded by Excel Entertainment, a venture under the proprietorship of Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
