In a recent development, Mumbai Police has initiated a fresh case pertaining to the shooting incident that occurred outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in April. Officials disclosed on Sunday that an individual from Rajasthan has been apprehended on charges of criminal intimidation.
The arrested individual, identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar (25) from Bundi, Rajasthan, allegedly uploaded a menacing video on his YouTube channel. According to officials, in the video filmed on a Rajasthan highway, Gujar declared his association with Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and their associates, expressing his intention to harm Salman Khan for his failure to issue an apology.
Considering the severity of the threat, a team was dispatched to Rajasthan, resulting in the arrest of the accused. The case has been registered at a cyber police station in Mumbai. “We are currently verifying the criminal background of accused Gujar,” stated the official. The accused faces charges under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation), along with provisions of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.
The incident in April involved two assailants on motorcycles firing multiple shots outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence in the early hours of April 14. Previously, six individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident, with one individual, Anuj Thapan, reportedly taking his own life in police custody on May 1.
In a related case, Navi Mumbai Police had apprehended five individuals, including an alleged member of the Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs from Haryana, for plotting an attack on Salman Khan.
Earlier reports suggested that four members of the gang had conducted surveillance of Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, his Bandra neighborhood, and the locations where he often filmed.
Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated at Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad for a separate case. Mumbai Police is planning to request his custody for their investigation. His brother Anmol, who is believed to be in Canada, has been identified as a wanted suspect in the shooting incident.
