In the bustling metropolis of Mumbai, the acclaimed filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and his spouse, the luminary actor Shibani Dandekar, are collaborating on a groundbreaking Netflix series titled “Dabba Cartel.” Helmed by the skilled director Hitesh Bhatia, this upcoming show unravels the narrative of five ordinary women in Thane, Maharashtra, who ingeniously establish a drug cartel via the conduit of a ‘dabba’ (tiffin) delivery service.

The stellar cast features luminaries such as Shabana Azmi, Jyotika, Farhan Akhtar, Nimisha Sajayan, Anjali Anand, Gajraj Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Lillete Dubey, and Jisshu Sengupta.

The inaugural glimpse into the world of Dabba Cartel, meticulously crafted by Dandekar, was unveiled on Thursday during the Next on Netflix event. Akhtar, through his production venture Excel Media & Entertainment, lends his support to this enthralling series.

Expressing his enthusiasm at the event, Akhtar shared, “We derive immense pleasure in narrating stories, and our collaboration with Netflix has been truly gratifying, with more riveting shows on the horizon. This particular series holds a special place in my heart as Shibani is the ingenious creator behind it.”

Dandekar, reflecting on the collaborative effort with her spouse, expressed delight at seeing the series materialize from a mere “tiny idea” within her mind. She elaborated, “The journey has been extensive, from cultivating a minute concept to collaborating with writers, Excel Entertainment, Netflix, and Hitesh Bhatia. Witnessing the show come to life has been an extraordinarily surreal experience. As a creator, working alongside my husband, as well as producers Abbas Kassim and Hitesh, has been nothing short of splendid. I couldn’t have envisioned a more fulfilling experience.”
