In a momentous event on June 13, Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, took the stage to honor the cast of the captivating film “All We Imagine As Light,” showering them with praise for their exceptional triumph at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Directed by the talented Payal Kapadia, the film secured the esteemed Grand Prix award, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian entry in the coveted main competition segment in thirty years.

During the ceremony, CM Vijayan bestowed accolades upon actors Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Hridhu Haroon, and Aziz Nedumangad, acknowledging their compelling performances that captivated audiences worldwide. Notably, cinematographer Santosh Sivan, recipient of the prestigious Pierre Angenieux ExcelLens in Cinematography Award at Cannes, was also recognized for his outstanding contribution to the film’s visual narrative.

The historic win on May 25 established Payal Kapadia as the first Indian filmmaker to clinch the Grand Prix award at Cannes for her poignant portrayal in “All We Imagine As Light.” This remarkable achievement, second only to the coveted Palme d’Or, signifies a groundbreaking moment for Indian cinema, underscoring its global impact and relevance.
