New Delhi: The Residence Ministry on Wednesday mentioned that the Authorities of India has blocked over 5.8 lakh SIM playing cards and 1,08,000 IMEI numbers. Minister of State for Residence Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar in a written reply to a query within the Rajya Sabha mentioned, “As per the knowledge supplied by the police officers, until date, over 5.8 lakh SIM playing cards and 1,08,000 IMEIs have been blocked by the Authorities of India.”
Kumar mentioned that as per the Seventh Schedule of the Indian Structure, police and public order are state topics. He mentioned that the central authorities helps the initiatives of the legislation enforcement companies (LEA) of the states and union territories via consultancy and monetary help below numerous schemes for capability constructing of the state.
He mentioned, “The federal government via its legislation enforcement companies is primarily chargeable for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of crimes together with cyber crime.” Kumar mentioned {that a} state-of-the-art ‘Nationwide Cyber Forensic Laboratory (Investigation)’ has been established in New Delhi to offer early stage cyber forensic assist to the Investigating Officers (IOs) of State/Union Territory Police.
He mentioned, ‘Until now the Nationwide Cyber Forensic Laboratory (Investigation) has supplied about 10,200 cyber forensic providers like cell forensics, reminiscence forensics, CDR evaluation and so on. to assist them in investigating instances associated to cyber crimes.’
