New Delhi: In an effort to uplift the spirits of party members amid the cloud surrounding the apprehension of party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in relation to the alcohol policy investigation, and his lack of success in obtaining judicial relief; the dominant AAP on Friday circulated an archival video of the leader where he encourages his supporters to remain resilient and dedicated to serving the populace with integrity.
In the footage, the Delhi CM, currently enduring extended judicial remand in the liquor policy matter, speaks about the necessity of courage and resolve, stating, “If we perish, we shall be hailed as valiant fallen heroes. Should we triumph, we shall be known as unflinching. Yet, if we flee, we shall be branded as cowards. We must not retreat. Persevere, stand unwaveringly committed to serving the people with earnestness and dedication.”
Kejriwal’s judicial remand is set to conclude on April 15, after which he is due to appear in court. The Delhi High Court recently validated the lawfulness of Kejriwal’s detainment by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy inquiry, citing his consistent non-compliance with summons over a six-month period as a primary reason for his detention.
The court remarked that had the petitioner participated in the investigation after receiving summons under Section 50 of PMLA, he could have presented his perspective to the investigative authority against the evidence it had amassed. Kejriwal was taken into custody on March 21 by the ED following several hours of interrogation regarding the excise policy case.
The lower court, on April 1, remanded Kejriwal to judicial custody until April 15. Additionally, the ED accused the AAP of being the primary recipient of the ill-gotten gains derived from the supposed liquor scheme.
