In Kolkata, Abhishek Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress luminary, contended on Saturday that the incumbent BJP administration at the helm of the nation had consciously deprived West Bengal for a decade, asserting the urgent need for a just governance paradigm shift at the national level.
Addressing a public gathering in Uluberia, situated in the Howrah district, Banerjee, who bears the familial relation of being the nephew to the Trinamool Congress matriarch, Mamata Banerjee, urged the denizens of West Bengal to retort to the BJP’s neglectful governance by exercising their electoral franchise diligently during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. “The Centre, under the BJP’s stewardship, has purposefully withheld entitlements owed to West Bengal over the past decade. Commitments under initiatives such as the 100-day employment scheme and Awas Yojana have been disregarded,” he lamented.
Banerjee advocated for the electorate to cast their ballots decisively against the incumbent regime, confident in the prospective ascent of the INDIA alliance to power, thereby ensuring the overdue remittance of the state’s outstanding dues. “The formation of a new central administration is imminent, and the electorate of West Bengal is poised to wield significant influence in this transformative process,” he emphasized.
Touching upon the Sandeshkhali incident, Banerjee vehemently dismissed the BJP’s allegations as baseless, asserting that recent revelations have debunked their claims. “A local BJP functionary in Sandeshkhali purportedly confessed to bribing women in the community to fabricate allegations of misconduct. Such spurious accusations not only besmirch the reputation of West Bengal but also demean the dignity of women,” he decried.
“We shall not compromise our integrity nor yield to external pressures emanating from Delhi. The BJP must be rebuffed resoundingly at the ballot box,” he affirmed.
