Asaduddin Owaisi, the helm of AIMIM and contender for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, articulated his readiness to endorse a prime ministerial candidate other than Narendra Modi. Speaking to ANI, Owaisi remarked, “I cannot speculate on hypotheticals. During the elections, I stated that should an opportunity arise for someone other than Modi to assume the premiership, we would lend our support.”
Contemplating the 2024 election outcomes, Owaisi opined that the BJP ought not to secure such a substantial number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha.
“The prevailing national sentiment suggested that the BJP should not have amassed even this number of seats. Had we executed our strategies effectively, they would have garnered merely 150 seats. We had the potential to thwart the BJP from establishing the government, aligning with the public’s desire, but unfortunately, we fell short. Nevertheless, we cannot be held accountable,” Owaisi asserted.
“It is evident that there was no Muslim vote bank in the nation, nor will there ever be,” he added. Addressing the BJP’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi stated, “They presumed they were invulnerable in UP, but invincibility is an illusion. Will PM Modi govern with the aid of crutches?”
As per the Election Commission of India’s trend and results in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party clinched 37 Parliamentary Constituencies, the BJP secured 33, while the Congress attained 6 seats.
Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) emerged victorious in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 338,087 votes. Owaisi amassed 661,981 votes, outstripping BJP’s Madhavi Latha, who garnered 323,894 votes.
In a press briefing, Owaisi conveyed his gratitude to the electorate for bestowing a “historic triumph” upon his party. “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the populace for granting the Majlis its fifth consecutive victory. I am particularly grateful to the people of Hyderabad, especially the youth, women, and first-time voters, for delivering a landmark success to the AIMIM party,” Owaisi proclaimed.
Notably, this election marked the first occasion where the BJP fielded a female candidate from the Hyderabad constituency.
